Though commanded in scripture, Thanksgiving is not the focus of what is done in America.

The National Day of Thanksgiving was a request of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and a call issued to a nation facing and emerging from a number of national crises. The Great Depression still had its grip on the nation; World War 1 was ended but not the results. World War II was looming.

The call was for a time of National celebration with the focus on returning thanks to God for His deliverance. Sure we are encouraged to join with our families and friends for a time of celebration, but with the proper focus in mind. We think first of the fellowship, the food and all that goes with that. But the intent of thanksgiving is messing. The Thanksgiving to God for being the “In God We Trust” it’s on our money! Yet; we are returning Thanks to a God who has provided abundantly for us, no matter how tough we think our times seem. We are still blessed; not just with family, friends and loved ones; but with a God who has provided for our every need.

Look at it: THANKSGIVING – is returning to God Jehovah Jireh the Provider, “Thank You for His: Goodness, Love, Personal Care and New Life.

We give thanks to God for: His wonderful Deeds; Protection; Salvation; Daily Provisions; Grace; Healing; for ALL People; for everything.

Now here is how we are to do it: Through our; singing; praying; giving offerings: but most of all by Worshiping God before all things.

 So let us keep these things in mind as we celebrate this weekend
                        “ THE NATIONAL DAY OF THANKSGIVING”.
